I forgot to mention that when we were in the dinghy yesterday a bottlenose dolphin was swimming all around the dinghy catching fish. I have never seen them doing what he was doing, he would go down and throw the fish in the air and catch it in his mouth.. it was just weird the way he was maneuvering around the boat, almost like he was showing off. Where is my camera when I need it? Maybe I need a waterproof camera like Steve has an Olympic or somehing like that (hint hint Michael). The dolphins usually swim and hunt in pods, swimming in a circle, ( opps, hit a choppy spot be back when we get across Hells Gate.) I'm back, just a small patch of chop and now we are nice and smooth again. We have had a really good trip this time with light winds every day and good weather. Today (Sunday) is cloudy and rainy. But, to get back to Friday; the dolphins swim in a circle around the bait fish and then force them into a pack for easy feeding.
On down the Steno River to North Edisto River, South Edisto River, a small part of the Ashepoo river, the Coosaw River, Brickyard Creek through the Ladies Island Bridge and into the Beaufort River and the town of Beaufort. Beaufort has been the Queen of the Carolina sea islands since 1514. "The Big Chill", "The Prince of Tides" and "Forest Gump" were filmed here and it is also the home of author Pat Conroy and Cassandra King. There is a multi-purpose park along the waterfront, an amphitheatre, a water garden, markets and a bandstand all on the banks of the Beaufort River. There are wooden swings and on any given day the park is full of people reading, having their coffee or just sitting and meditating, such a peaceful place. If I were going to relocate, this is where I would live.
Our cousins Linda and Charles had a ball to go to tonight but as luck would have it our other cousin MaryAnn and her partner Mike are in town buying a house (they love it here too). We gave them a call and they came right over to spend the day with us. Had a wonderful visit, went to eat at Panini's for dinner, took a trip to the grocery store and just talked and talked and talked. Funny we visit more with family when we are away then when we are in NJ. We had such a nice day!
