Weather:Cloudy turning SUNNY WARM 3.8 MPH winds
We left the dock amid cloudy skies and a warm 51 degrees. Continuing down the Pongo River with the winds at our back we are finally able to motor sail pass Maw Point Shoal and into the Neuse River (which can be ferocious if the winds are strong and blowing south). At MM185 we enter Adams Creek where we see our first pod of dolphins, on past Beaufort and Morehead City, NC (home of the Sanitary Restaurant and Captain Bill's where you can dock for free if you have dinner there but you have to get there early to get tied up, popular places). Another 25 miles down Bogue Sound to Swansboro, NC. A really beautiful day on the water, even got some sun. Swansboro, known as "The Friendly City by the Sea" is the kind of town I would love to live, a small colonial port established in 1740 former site of an Algonquin Indian Village. The town is already decorated for Christmas and looks beautiful with twinkling lights and wreaths all around (although I think it is WAY too early for that.) Michangelo's pizza is about 1 or 2 miles from town so off we go (Skipper is upset that he doesn't have his carriage right now). I walked over to the Walgreen's to get my People magazine and also the newspaper (after all it is Sunday) and then to Piggly Wiggly for some rolls and wine. Back to the boat we go packages, pizza, wine and Skipper in tow (at least half way, had to carry him the rest). The evening is warm and clear as we have our sunset cocktail sitting outdoors. Ahhhhhh, now this is what it is all about!!!
