Woke up at 5;00 to make the 6 AM bridge opening but, what were we thinking, we are only 200 feet from the bridge. Ok, so off Skipper and I go for a walk to get the paper at the gas station only to find there aren't any papers. We could have gone a bit up the road but I thought we may be late for the bridge so back we go. In the meanwhile, Michael had called the bridge and they were going to give us an early opening but, of course, Skip and I got back at 5:55 and just made the 6 opening. It's ok though, it's my birthday and I can do anything I want today. Off we go motoring down the Virginia Cut past Coinjock where we pulled over to Midway Marina and bought a newspaper, across the North River (NC) across the Currituck Sound through the Albemarle Sound and into the Alligator River Marina. We've made this trip across in some mighty nasty weather but this time the winds were on our side blowing NE at 1.9 knots, very lovely trip. Thank goodness we got to this marina because a storm is coming up the coast and we'll be safe in here. Yes, the Alligator River does have alligators. There is a picture dated 5/9/09 in the restaurant of a gator about 15 feet long that was taken in the marina. I keep Skipper on a short leach here. After we tied up I did some laundry, made some friends, made a gingerbread cake (didn't need to, Michael bought me pink snowball cupcakes for my birthday). Our dinner consisted of the leftovers from last nights habachi grill and we could also have had lunch. Now that was a really cheap way to go, dinner was buy one get one free and we had 2 more dinners out of it so it was buy one get 3 free and it was really delicious. (Sorry Weight Watchers). No TV so I missed Dancing With The Stars. Going to bed now, 8:30 because we have an early rise tomorrow.
